SH3LLC0DE is a codebreaking game about taking contracts against corporations that have something worth hiding. Every job starts with a hidden sequence of symbols. Each attempt tells you more about the code: what you’ve found, what’s in the wrong place, and what doesn’t belong. The problem is that getting information isn’t free. Your alarm keeps climbing, and if it hits 100%, the job is over. When the code gets tougher, you have tools to even the odds. Probe symbols for clues, sweep bad options off the board, patch the alarm, break through blackouts, and protect yourself from corrupted signals. As the campaign goes on, new security and changing rules force you to use those tools in different ways. The campaign keeps changing what you’re up against. Codes get harder, new security gets introduced, and modifiers like BLACKOUT and REMIX can take away information or scramble the board you’re working from. Between jobs, news reports and messages from your broker start filling in what these corporations are doing and what your work is actually setting in motion.
